Transformations in the law, higher education, and world view will be indicated by the eclipse. The power game is defeated with knowledge.
At lunar eclipses, we are called upon to face the necessity of manifesting new ways to move into our future. Hence, eclipses often correspond to stress, crisis and change in our lives. Some astrologers suggest that the significance of a lunar eclipse can last for several weeks. Others suggest it can last for three to six months. Tibetan Buddhists say that the ramifications of any activity performed during an eclipse are greatly amplified – including any negative actions which can be multiplied many times and extend far in the future. Thus, they suggest that people do meditation practices and other positive activities on the eclipses to benefit not only themselves, but also all other beings.
This lunar eclipse occurs in the North Node in Scorpio at 4°08′ of Sagittarius with the Moon in Sagittarius. The eclipse calls for constructive change, self-discipline, and awareness of others desires, wants, motives, and needs. It is necessary to eliminate nonuseful possessions, to accept support from others, and to merge power with others. The Full Moon invites us to realize the meaning of our lives and infuse it into our life structures. If that meaning does not fit in the existing structures, they should be rebuilt to accommodate it. The Full Moon in Sagittarius inspires optimism, justice, and purposefulness. The North Node in Scorpio reminds us to destroy old forms to make way for the new, to share physical and emotional resources, and to develop both financial and sexual integrity. The Sun in Gemini will eclipse with logic and reason any righteous and dogmatic tendencies from excessive Sagittarian emotions indicated by the Moon. We will see hidden situations that come to the light where truth prevails. Passionate resistance to change will dissipate to give way to a purposeful life. Exposure to different ways of thinking, other philosophies and cultures, and higher education will inform the need for open-mindedness and healing. Transformations in the law, justice, higher education, and world view will be indicated by the eclipse. The power game is defeated with knowledge.
Once again, I’d like to share Dane Rudhyar’s Sabian Symbols corresponding to this eclipse, which I quote hereby:
SECOND HEMICYCLE: The Process of Collectivization
ACT III: GROUP INTEGRATION
SCENE SEVENTEEN: ABSTRACTION
FIRST LEVEL: ACTIONAL
Phase 245 (Sagittarius 5°): AN OLD OWL SITS ALONE ON THE BRANCH OF A LARGE TREE.
Keynote: A poised and wise approach to existence based on a clear perception of unconscious factors and their operation.
The owl has always been a symbol of wisdom, and its hooting call has evoked a rise to mysterious and hidden elements in life. The owl functions lucidly in the night aspect of existence. His eyes see what men normally fail to perceive. He represents that consciousness which is active where the processes of life normally escape the attention of the personal ego and its intellect.
This is the last of the five symbols in the forty-ninth sequence. It suggests the possibility of developing a wisdom beyond tragedy, a peace and poise beyond conflict. One might speak here of TRANSLUCIDITY.
The eclipse will be visible from the Americas and western Africa. If the skies are not clear or you are in a different part of the world, you can watch live the eclipse here.
